A look at Goblin Football at the end of non-conference play

The Goblins are 2-1 on the year and begin conference play on September 23rd. Here's what has stood out so far.

The Goblins have finished their non-conference schedule with a record of 2-1. They started the season with a 24-14 win over the 7A Springdale Bulldogs on the road and then won their home opening against 6A Mountain Home 20-7 and fell in overtime at Batesville against the Pioneers from the 5A East 25-24.

Junior Quarterback Mason Ketterman has shown great game management and has been praised by Head Coach Chris Keylon as well as being named player of the game by New Country 102.9 for his performance against the Batesville last Friday. In the game Ketterman was 8/14 passing with 69 yards and one touchdown. On the season Ketterman has completed 59% of his passes with 81 yards per game and three touchdowns. Ketterman has also shown the ability to keep the ball and run with 18 carries and 59 yards. His QB Rating sits at 110.

Senior Running Back Braden Long has stood out with 355 yards on the ground in the first three weeks, averaging 5.1 yards per carry and a scoring five touchdowns. Long was player of the game in Week 2 against Mountain Home, a game where he carried the ball 28 times for 169 yards and one touchdown. Long is also a strong defensive player with seven tackles, plus two assists, one sack, and one tackle for a loss.

Among the receivers, Senior Talon Stephens leads the way with eight catches, 91 yards, and one touchdown. J. Henry Brandt, Braden Long, and Caden Hinson all have three receptions each with a combined 84 yards and two touchdowns.

Harrison’s Junior Kicker Brody Burge has yet to falter this season with a perfect record in PATs and field goals. Burge is 9/9 in PATs and 2/2 in field goals. His longest field goal of the season came in week one with a 33 yard kick to put the Goblins up by three over the Bulldogs.

Overall, the Goblins are averaging 246.5 offensive yards per game (81 Passing, 165.5 Rushing) and 11 total touchdowns, while the defense has produced three sacks, three interceptions, and forced two fumbles.

The Goblin’s next opponent is the Farmington Cardinals who are also 2-1 after losing in week 3 to the Roger Mounties. Before that they defeated the Springdale Bulldogs 38-20 and the Greenbrier Panthers 49-20.

It is hard to tell who in the 5A West looks like a favorite this year as each team has completed their non-conference season with an identical record of two wins and one loss. The Goblins schedule for the remainder of the years looks like this:
