Former NBA Player A.C. Green shared thoughts on his career and the role of his faith in his career during last week's Fellowship of Christian Athletes South Central Missouri Awards Banquet.

Green, who was a part of three NBA Championship Teams with the Los Angeles Lakers, shared with those gathered at Big Cedar Lodge about the role Jesus Christ played in his life. He said that faith helped him avoid many temptations in his career including being able to stay Sexually Abstinent until he was married in 2002.

Green also shared stories of his NBA Career in his speech as well as an interview with media members prior to the event. Green, who played in 1,992 straight games from 1986 to the end of his career in 2001, said he understands why players and general managers have to sit players from time to time. The practice, known as "Load Management", does have a place in today's game according to Green.

Besides Green's Speech, the banquet honored two athletes and coaches involved with FCA. Forsyth garnered two of the awards with Ben Boyer receiving the Male Athlete of the Year honor with Middle School Social Studies Teacher Karen Pearson claiming the FCA Coach of the Year Award. The other honor went to Spokane High School's Callie Terrell who was named the Female Athlete of the Year,

Among the other moments at the banquet was a Moment of Silence for Juston Gates, who served on the FCA Board for many years. Gates, who served 12 years as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church Forsyth, had earlier in the day succumbed to injuries suffered in a hunting accident the previous week.
