Forsyth continues a strong run of Baseball in the 2020s.
Since the 2020 season was cancelled by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Forsyth has reemerged as one of the most consistent programs in the region. The Panthers have won District Championships in four of the last six seasons, including Wednesday's 2-1 extra inning win at Ava. Panther Pitcher Bryce Nolen and his Ava Counterpart Kyle Pitts controlled the game each only allowing a run in the fourth inning. The game had many turns, including the top of the seventh when the Bears thought they scored a run after a Panther double play call was overturned, but the umpires ruled the runner had to return to third base and the Panthers secured the next out.
In the extra inning, the Bears again got runners in scoring position before Clay Muller, who relieved Nolen when he reached his pitch limit, forced a groundout to get the game to the bottom of the eighth. Brendon Halbrook led off with a double. After a sacrifice fly and intentional walk, Zeb Sanders hit a ball that was mishandled on the infield allowing Halbrook to score the winning run.
The Panthers go to 21-15 with the win under first year Head Coach Alex Weathermon, who took over this season for Byron Richardson who took an Administrative Job at Branson High School
The Panthers will host the Class 3 Sectional Game Tuesday at 5:00 against Licking.
