The Harrison Goblins picked a good day to play their best golf.
Playing on their home course at Harrison Country Club, the Goblins captured the 4A-1 Boys Conference Tournament championship Tuesday with a team score of 222, 12-over par. Harrison finished 32 strokes ahead of runner-up Gravette according to information released on the Harrison Golden Goblin Facebook Page.
The Goblins also dominated the individual leaderboard, taking each of the top three spots.
Sophomore Brody Knapp earned medalist honors with an even-par round of 70. Knapp overcame a triple bogey on the par-4 third hole and erased much of the damage with an eagle on the 513-yard, par-5 ninth. He made the turn at 36 before shooting a one-under 34 on the back nine.
Knapp closed in impressive fashion, making birdies on both the 17th and 18th holes to secure the conference's individual championship.
Teammate Clark Hubbard wasn't far behind.
The sophomore finished second with a three-over 73 after opening his round with birdies on the first and fourth holes. Hubbard was two under through four before a double bogey on No. 9 slowed his momentum. He finished with rounds of 37 and 36.
Senior Berkley Knapp, Brody's older brother, completed Harrison's sweep of the podium by finishing third with a 79.
Berkley Knapp shot a 38 on the front nine before finishing with a 41 on the back. A difficult par-4 13th hole proved costly, but he recovered well enough to secure third place and give the Knapp brothers two of the tournament's top three finishes.
Senior Isaac Freeman gave Harrison a fourth golfer in the top 10, shooting an 81 to finish seventh overall. Although Freeman's round was Harrison's drop score in the team competition, his performance helped complete a strong showing for the Goblins.
All four Harrison golfers finished inside the top eight and earned all-conference honors, including Brody Knapp, Clark Hubbard, Berkley Knapp and Isaac Freeman.
Harrison also collected an all-conference honor in the girls competition. Lady Goblin freshman MacKenzie Rhein earned all-conference recognition.
