The Harrison Goblins pull off an upset of one of the top seeds in the 5A Playoffs while Forsyth sees their season end in Postseason High School Football action Friday.

The 5A West Fourth Seed Goblins overcame a couple of early turnovers and scored a 27-13 win at 5A East Top Seed Valley View. After the early Goblin turnovers, the defense forced a Blazer fumble with the Goblins finishing a drive on an Eli McNutt nine-yard run. The Goblins forced the home team to punt then Goblin Quarterback Gavin Jones finished a drive just before the end of the first quarter to secure a 14-0 lead. The Goblins added two field goals Truett Bardwell field goals to lead 20-0 at half. 

Valley View returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown to start the second half, the Goblins answered with another McNutt touchdown run to lead 27-7. The Goblin defense held the Blazers out of the end zone early in the fourth quarter and held on from there just giving up a late touchdown.

The Goblin win completed a sweep of the 5A West over 5A East in the playoffs with Greenbrier, Farmington, and Morrilton all getting wins. 

The Goblins will play in the 5A Quarterfinals next week in Little Rock against Parkview, who knocked off Maumelle in their contest Friday night.

A first half that was close until the final seconds of the first half turned into a big home win for the Eagles over the Panthers ending the Forsyth season.

The Eagles scored the only touchdown in the first quarter and an early second quarter touchdown to lead 14-0 before the Panthers put together their best drive of the night which featured a long pass from Chris Halbrook to Thomas Strahan which set-up a Tamarkus Holmes one-yard run to get the lead to seven. But the Eagles, who earlier converted a 4th and 18 yards to go situation into a touchdown, got a touchdown on the final play of the first half and never looked back controlling the second half for the big win.

Forsyth finishes the season with an 8-4 record, a second straight District Runner-Up Finish and the Mid-Lakes Conference Title for 2025.
