Online at MOARK Sports this week includes live volleyball and archived coverage of a come from behind softball win.
On Monday, the Branson Lady Pirate Softball team looked to begin the week on a winning note with a home district contest against Nixa. After winning four in a row in September, the Lady Pirates endured a tough week transitioning to October as Branson dropped six of seven games, including a record of 1-4 at the weekend Springfield Tournament.
In a game with district seedings implications, Nixa scored four runs in the top of the first inning to grab the lead and held Branson in check through the first four innings only allowing one baserunner and no hits.
That changed in the fifth inning with Hailey Jones leading off with a single followed by an Aly Bluto walk They would score later on a Raylee Stroud single and a Kallie Casebourn sacrifice fly.
The Lady Eagles got one back in the top of the sixth before the Lady Pirates got the line moving in the bottom half of the inning as with one out, four straight hits by Paisley Prichett, Jones, Bluto, and Autumn Wickern led to two runs with Stroud knocking in two more runs with two outs with the final run scoring on a wild pitch.
The seventh inning had some drama as the first Nixa hitter reached on a error before a fly ball double play got the Lady Pirates to within one out. However, another error and back to back hits got the Lady Eagles within one before the final out was recorded in the Lady Pirate 7-6 win.
The game broadcast can be heard on the Branson Page at MOARK Sports.
